Description
Bhagwan Das Gupta’s historical biography places Maharaja Chhatrasal Bundela within the wider history of Bundelkhand and its encounters with Mughal and Maratha power. Eleven chapters trace his early struggles, relations with the later Mughals, the Bangash–Bundela wars and his association with Bajirao, while also examining Pran Nath and the Pranami sect, literary patronage, family life and administration. With a foreword by Jadunath Sarkar, the work includes five historical appendices addressing disputed dates and traditions, a select bibliography and an index. Illustrated matter includes Chhatrasal on horseback, views of his memorials and the Pranami Temple at Panna. A folding map, “The Early Struggle of Chhatrasal,” charts the regional setting of his campaigns. This Radiant Publishers hardback retains its pink pictorial dust jacket, bearing an oval portrait of the ruler. The jacket shows soiling, rubbing, small edge nicks and a faded spine with greenish discoloration near its head. Board edges and corners are worn; the paper is toned with scattered spots and marks, and the folding map has pronounced fold creases.
