Description
Narrative of the Indian Revolt, published by George Vickers, London, in 1858, bound in tan half leather over blue-dominant marbled boards, with ruled spine compartments and a black label lettered in gilt. The title page announces nearly two hundred engravings from authentic sketches; the photographed illustrations include portraits of Havelock and Sir Colin Campbell, architectural views, and double-page representations of Jama Masjid at Delhi and the durbar of Bahadur Shah. Text is printed in double columns, with contents, a list of engravings and an index arranged in three columns. A small pencil inscription appears at the head of the title page, and the opening text page retains the printed designation “No. 1.—One Penny.”
